Tempus Fugit Red Blend 2018

Napa Valley
$45 (Wine Club Reorder Price: $34)

Weston Eidson is quite the winemaker and entrepreneur. He trained under his mentor, Russell Bevan, and now has two main projects under his belt: Silver Ghost and Montagu. Tempus Fugit is a brand new wine by Weston and we are super excited to be amongst the first to share it with you.

Weston has a pretty interesting family history… his great-grandfather, John Montagu, was an automobile pioneer at the turn of the last century. Being a British Lord and in Parliament, he was instrumental in much of the early automotive legislation and even gave the future Edward VII his first car ride. He was friends with Charles Rolls and Henry Royce, and his assistant served as the model for the Rolls-Royce hood ornament, the Spirit of Ecstasy, which we still see on Rolls-Royce cars today. Silver Ghost derives its name from John Montagu’s favorite car, the 1909 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost. And like its name, the wine itself is filled with layers of richness, culture, and authenticity.

In 2012, Weston founded Montagu Wines whose track record boasts several 90-100 point wines (those of you that have been club members for a bit might remember Montagu from previous shipments). John’s son, and Weston’s great-uncle Edward, the third Lord Montagu, continued his father’s legacy by founding Britain’s National Motor Museum. Today, Montagu is dedicated to showcasing wine from some of the finest vineyards in Napa Valley and Sonoma.

Tempus Fugit is a Latin phrase that roughly translates into “Time Flies”. The name is a play on the extended time the wine ages in oak barrels. It’s a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 25% Petit Verdot and with Weston’s winemaking touch you can expect a wine that is richly layered, complex and balanced.
