Established in 2014 by three partners: Ellie Anest, Carol Vassilliadis, and Aureilen Roulin, this wine project is off to an impressive start with veteran winemaker Kirk Venge at the helm. The three partners met by accident (or maybe it was fate) when they got together to buy investment property, but the property was just too great to purely be an investment. This is how Eleven Eleven came to be.
Eleven Eleven represents meant-to-be moments that highlight synchronicity, inspiration and delight. A fine bottle of wine embodies these elements and can elicit the same sense of mystery, wonder and joy. “Just looking at the clock at precisely 11:11 and feeling something special, Eleven Eleven wines is the expression and celebration of the idea that what is meant to be will be.” – Aureilen Roulin
The fruit for this lovely Sauvignon Blanc was sourced from the Beckstoffer Melrose Vineyard in the Rutherford AVA, which has also been the source for a number of 90+ point wines from several well-known wineries in recent years. Brightly shining and as clear as a perfect day, the wine has just a tad more color than last year. Initially, you are treated to aromas of tropical fruit; kiwis and pineapple followed seamlessly with the invigorating scents of gardenia and meyer lemon. The palate awakens the senses with flavors of crisp green apples and lemon meringue accompanied by mouth watering acidity. These classic flavors are balanced by softness brought by more time in neutral oak barrels.
