Moon Mountain, Sonoma County
$40 (Wine Club Reorder Price $35)
Korbin Kameron was a family endeavor. Years ago on a drive through the Sonoma Valley, owner Mitchell Ming and his family came upon a homestead hovering high above the valley floor, so high that the land lived above the clouds. The house looked over acres and acres of rolling hills, wild with nature. And in that idyllic scene, he saw their dream of working together and creating quality wines from estate grown grapes coming to life.
Korbin Kameron is named after Mitchell’s twins (Korbin and Kameron). Today, the family still runs the winery with Korbin as the General Manager, Kameron as the Wine Club Manager, and their daughter Kristin as the Director of Design.
The Moonridge Vineyard, located on a 186 acre property on Mount Veeder features all Bordeaux varieties. Phil Coturri, a pioneer of organic and biodynamic winegrowing in California, is their viticulturist. As you’d expect, the vineyard is farmed organically.
Korbin Kameron’s winemaker, Tim Milos, has worked with Stags Leap Wine Cellars, Opus One, Cliff Lede Vineyards, and Dromana Estate in Australia in addition to Korbin Kameron. Tim specializes in mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, which must be why this Cab is such a knockout! I have to admit we gave our club members a really exclusive price on this wine. It normally retails at $60 at the winery which even at that price is a steal.
I tested this with a few local club members and we all agreed it was super smooth and fruity. You might find flavors like fig, cassis, molasses, blackberry, espresso, or cocoa in the glass. Like any Cabernet, pair this with your favorite steak dinner or even just enjoy a glass on its own.
