A project of The Wine Foundry in Napa, which specializes in ultra-premium custom-made wines, Anarchist Wine Co.’s winemaking team began experimenting with co-fermentations and unusual blends which created sensational results. Anarchist Wine Co. is founded on a passion for creative offerings. They are not your hoodie wearing, molotov cocktail throwing anarchists; they are a nod to those with the foresight to observe the situation, the mindfulness to ask the question, the courage to take action and forge the outcome. These are the Anarchists the winery honors and their wines walk a similar path. They blend varietals not usually made together in the traditional wine landscape.

Declaring independence from conformity, Anarchist Wine Co. offers an innovative lineup of wines that challenge the status quo. Anarchist Wine Co. wines also are known to sport award-winning artistic labels reflecting the creative process and personality of each wine. Each label draws on an art form called “Generative Art”, which uses an algorithm incorporating data from people and places that capture the spirit behind the individual wine.

Winemaker Patrick Saboe at The Wine Foundry in Napa, California is a busy man as winemaker for the custom, small-lot winemaking facility for numerous individuals and small commercial brands. From harvest to tank or barrel, and lastly to bottling, Saboe has a thread of what each client desires for their wine running through his mind. Throughout his winemaking with Anarchist he has shown imagination and resourcefulness. ‘Conspiracy Theory’ is one of the flagships for Anarchist Wine Co. in which Saboe used syrah, grenache, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, malbec, cabernet franc, and petite sirah to make a bold, beautiful, flavorful, and playful wine.

‘Conspiracy Theory’ was modeled after the cult status wine ‘The Prisoner.’ Patrick Saboe gave homage in this 2015 blend to Dave Phinney – the brilliant winemaker who created The Prisoner. He loved the idea of The Prisoner and the fun blends behind it. Conspiracy Theory is a New World blend, and Saboe wanted it to be something that people have not had before. Stylistically, he wanted it to feel familiar but be a blend someone hadn’t conceived or tried yet. It is a blend of all California that changes varieties year to year. Napa and Sonoma vineyards are featured primarily.

This New World rare red blend is rich and intense. To get into the Halloween spirit we like to pair this wine with a handful of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Peanut butter and chocolate is already a pretty stellar combination on its own, but paired with the dark fruit flavors in this wine, the combo moved into a whole other level. The smooth creaminess of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup is the perfect complement to the ripe berry fruit.
